Title:  Director of Parish Religious Education and Youth Ministry
 
This is not a full time position which reports to Pastor and is supported by Religious Education and Family Life Committees.
 
Job summary:
            The Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry will have a heart for sharing the “Good News” and helping people grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and his Church.  The Director will build and administer a total parish catechetical and youth ministry program and assist the parish community in building a solid foundation for adult spirituality, Christian living, ministry and outreach for the 700 household combined membership of Holy Family, St. Mary and St. Anthony Parishes.
 
Areas of Responsibility
 
            A.  Design catechetical programs which support lifelong practice of the faith.
                        1.  Assesses parish needs
                        2.  Articulates a vision for Religious Education and Youth Ministry
                        3.  Designs programs that meet the needs of the parish
            B.  Build the Religious Ed and Youth Ministry programs
                         1.   Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates program ministers
                         2.  Secure materials needed for programs.
                         3.  Prepare monitor budgets for programs  
            C.  Lead a Youth Ministry that engages the hearts of our youth through                                    
                  experiences like youth rallies, mission trips, retreats and social events.
            D.  Provide administrative support to the volunteer coordinators of
                        1.  First Reconciliation Preparation
                        2.  First Communion Preparation
                        3.  Confirmation Preparation
                        4.  Elementary Religious Education Classes
                        5.  Middle school and High School Religious Ed. Classes
                        6.  Vacation Bible School
                        7. RCIA
            E.  As time and energy allow will assist with the development of  young adult                                   
                 and adult ministries.
            F.  Assure Religious Ed. Catechists are progressing in their diocesan                                        
                certification.
            G.  Implement the Diocesan Safe Environment Program
            H.  Attend parish staff meetings, Family Life and Religious Ed. Committee                              
                Meeting
            I.  Pursue continued professional and spiritual growth.
 
 
Qualifications:

• Our first priority is a person with a heart for youth ministry.
• Bachelor’s degree in theology or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience as a Catechist and Youth Minister preferred
• Ability to work with a diversity of youth and adults.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, manage multiple priorities, and work with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Leadership and mentoring skills
• Advanced Certification as a catechist in the Diocese of La Crosse (or committed to attaining it promptly after hire)
• Familiarity and conformity with the guidelines and policies of the Diocese of La Crosse
